HOW TO PLAY DOTA? – Tutorial: Setting

DotA or Defense of the Ancient is a strategic game which is full of details and intricate features. Though this game has a lot of details it is very easy to understand. Before playing the game, it is very important to optimize and set your settings for the game. It is your choice on how you can play a better game by organizing your own settings in gameplay, video and sounds.


There are two menu settings that you can customize during the game. The first menu setting is when you open Warcraft. In the menu screen you can see the “Option” where you can optimize your gameplay, video and sound settings.


The “Gameplay” setting includes the following:
Mouse Scroll – This setting allows you to adjust your mouse scroll speed when cruising around the map. (Note: This is not a setting for mouse sensitivity)
Disable Mouse Scroll – This setting is a toggle box where you can disable and enable the use of Mouse Scroll.
Keyboard Scroll – This setting enables you to adjust the speed of your keyboard scroll using up, down, left, right arrow keys on your keyboard.
Enhanced Tooltips – This toggle setting enables and disables tool tips in the game.
Subgroup order modifier key – This toggle setting enables and disables the subgroup order modifier key.
Enable Formation Movement toggle – This toggle setting enables and disables the formation movement.
Custom Keyboard Shortcuts – This toggle setting enables and disables the custom keyboard shortcuts.
Always Show Health Bars – This toggle setting enables and disables to show health bars.
Automatically Save Replays – This toggle setting enables and disables the automatic saving of replays.
Game Port – This allows you to set the applicable game port for the game.
Chat Support – This allows you to set the language of the game. These includes Default (English), Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Hide Chat (by Danat).


The “Video” setting includes the following:
 Gamma – This setting allows you to adjust the lightness and darkness of the whole game.
Resolution – This allows you to customize the pixel dimensions to match your computer’s performance.
Model Detail – This allows you to set the model detail from Low, Medium and High.
Animation Quality – This allows you to set the animation quality from Low, Medium and High.
Texture Quality – This allows you to set the texture quality from Low, Medium and High.
Particles – This allows you to set the particles from Low, Medium and High.
Lights – This allows you to set the lights from Low, Medium and High.
Unit Shadows – This allows you to set the unit shadows On and Off.
Occlusion – This allows you to set the occlusion On and Off.
Spell Detail – This allows you to set the spell detail from Low, Medium and High.


The “Sound” setting includes the following:
 Sound Effects Volume – This toggle setting allows you to customize the sound effect volume. When enabled, you can adjust the volume from Low to High.
Music Volume – This toggle setting allows you to customize the music volume. When enabled, you can adjust the volume form Low to High.
Ambient Sounds – This toggle setting allows you to enable and disable the ambient sound during the game.
Movement Sounds – This toggle setting allows you to enable and disable the movement sound during the game.
Unit Reponses – This toggle setting allows you to enable and disable the unit response during the game.
Subtitles – This toggle setting you to enable and disable the subtitle during the game.
Sound Provider – This setting allows you to set the sound provider. This includes Miles Emulated 3D, Dolby Surround, Creative Labs EAX2 ™.
Environmental Effects – This toggle setting allows you to enable and disable the environmental sound effect during the game.
3D Positional Audio – This toggle setting allows you to enable and disable the 3D positional audio during the game.

When you forgot to set these settings on the menu screen, you can adjust these settings during the game this is the second way of customizing your own settings. During the game, click the Menu on the upper left or Press F10 and select Options. You have the access with these settings same as from the Menu Option Settings that you can optimize before the game.






Remember that a good setting will ensure a good game and best customize that fits your own desire in playing.
